British And German Troops Commemorate WWI Christmas Truce With Soccer Match

A special sporting event took place over Christmas between British and German troops stationed overseas in Kabul.

The two nations decided to commemorate the Christmas Truce of World War I by having a soccer match against one another – something the rivals during the Great War were  rumored to have done during a lull in the fighting when German, British, and French soldiers left their trenches to celebrate Christmas together.

In November, a fantastic commercial for a UK based supermarket also depicted the events that transpired during the Christmas truce.
