The anti-gun Democrats are at it again, and this time it’s coming from Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ).
Menendez has sponsored a new bill, the Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act, attempting to bring back the federal magazine ban that can hold more than 10 rounds. The bill would also ban the importation, sale, manufacture, transfer, or possession of any magazine that holds more than 10 rounds.
In a statement released, Menendez said:
There is no place in our communities for ammunition magazines designed for military-style shootouts, which have been used inside Sandy Hook Elementary School, in Aurora, in Fort Hood, and in Tucson – and it is well-past time for Congress to listen to the American people and put this high-capacity magazine ban back in place.
The only thing more senseless than the gun violence that has taken too many of our nation’s children and countless innocent Americans is the failure of Congress to pass common sense gun safety measures, like this one, that are supported by 90% of the American public.
Introducing the bill to the house will be Representative Elizabeth Esty (D-CT) who in a statement cited the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting and America’s support for more gun restrictions:
During the dark day of December 14, 2012, eleven innocent children escaped the ravages of gun shots at Sandy Hook Elementary School because shooter Adam Lanza had to pause to reload his gun. Large capacity magazines that allow people to shoot up to 100 rounds of ammunition have no place in our schools, our movie theaters, our parks, or our streets. It’s time for Congress to listen to the voices of over 90% of Americans who support common sense gun safety reforms and reinstate reasonable restrictions on large capacity magazines.
The most glaring problem with the two Democrats’ arguments is that 90% of American do not actually support gun safety reforms. A Pew Research Poll released in December of 2014 shows that “52% say it is more important to protect the right of Americans to own guns, while 46% say it is more important to control gun ownership.”
In case there was any doubt why a person might need more than 10 rounds in a magazine watch this video.
