Pundits on different sides of he aisle, brothers Brad (Democrat) and Dallas (Republican) Woodhouse were just beginning to go after each other on CSPAN’s Washington Journal when host Steve Scully took a call from Joy in North Carolina. It wasn’t until she started to speak that the two brothers realized it was their mother calling to tell them their arguments were ruining the holidays.
As soon as host Scully announced the call, the brothers exclaimed how happy they were getting a call from the South. Until they heard the voice.
“Oh God, it’s Mom,” said Dallas.
“You’re right, I’m from down south. And I’m your mother,” came out of the phone line.
Joy Woodhouse proceeded to scold her two boys on national television for their political fighting, which was ruining family gatherings.
I disagree that many families are like ours. I don’t know many families that are fighting at Thanksgiving. I was very glad that this Thanksgiving was a year you were supposed to go to your in-laws. I’m hoping you’ll have some of this out of your system when you come here for Christmas. I would really like a peaceful Christmas.
It was fun television, especially when Mama Woodhouse told host Steve Skully that raising them “hasn’t been easy,” but she loved both of them.
