President Abbas’ Fatah Party Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary By Promoting Martyrdom

On January 1, 1965 Fatah, now run by supposedly moderate President Abbas, committed its first act of terror. Fifty years later, it is celebrating that anniversary by promoting new acts of violence and martyrdom with statements such as,  “If the ground of Mecca is for worship, the ground of Jerusalem is for Martyrdom-death .”

Two-and-a-half years before the Six Day War, when Jordan controlled the West Bank, two members of Fatah infiltrated into Israel and attempted to sabotage a National Water Carrier canal in the Negev dessert. The explosive device they put next to the canal failed to explode (and was discovered by an Israeli border patrol). Despite the failure of the attack the  “reformed” terrorist organization has been celebrating its 50th anniversary on its Facebook page with new calls for violence.

Below are some examples of the latest incitement which were translated by Palwatch:

The text on the post below reads

The post below says:

“We owe much to Fatah. It is looking at us with Yasser Arafat’s eyes, and is revealed to us through his black keffiyeh (head dress), so that we may take shelter in its shadow and keep its revolutionary symbolism. O young [Palestinians], Fatah is calling you. It is the mother that bestowed on us all the tenderness, hope, honor, dignity and pride. It has taught us to love the homeland, and to love to die for it. It has taught us that the right can neither be taken [away] nor given.” Source: Facebook, “Fatah – The Main Page”, Dec. 30, 2014

This post calls for the continuation of armed struggle:

“Fatah will carry on the struggle in all its forms until the liberation of the land and the man.” Source: Facebook, “Fatah – The Main Page”, Dec. 22, 2014

On its 50th anniversary Fatah had the opportunity to promote peace, but demonstrated once again that its supposed moderation is a farce.
