The former Olympic decathlon winner who wowed America with his flag-waving win in 1976, is becoming a woman.
People magazine “has confirmed” that Jenner, who has starred for years in a TV reality show, has already begun the sex change.
“Bruce is transitioning to a woman,” a “source close to the family” told the magazine. “He is finally happy and his family is accepting of what he’s doing. He’s in such a great space. That’s why it’s the perfect time to do something like this.”
Not surprisingly, the 65 year old will star in a new TV show this year documenting his sex change. “It will air when he is ready to be open about his transition,” the source told People.
For the past several years much has been written about Jenner’s changing physical appearance (he now wears his hair long and straight, is often seen with polish on his nails and his, uh, cleavage has become prominent).
The People source said that has all been by design. “He’s being very smart about and also respectful about his transition. Instead of completely shocking everyone, his changes have been subtle, and his family has had the chance to slowly get used to his new looks and life.”
Also not surprisingly, some in his large family — which includes his step-daughters the Kardashian girls, as well as daughters Kendall, 19 and Kylie, 17 — are on board with the momentous decision.
“Different people have different reactions. But everybody loves him,” the source said.
Kim Kardashian had hinted at Bruce’s transition when she told a TV show: “I think everyone goes through things in life, and I think that story and what Bruce is going through, I think he’ll share whenever the time is right.”
