House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that, not only did Jonathan Gruber not play a significant role in drafting Obamacare, but that she doesn’t even “know who he is.”

The U.S. immigration and border security system is often called broken and failed, prompting calls for comprehensive, complex legislation that provides amnesty to millions of unlawful immigrants and would supposedly fix the problem. Exhibit one is the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act (S. 744). The act ignores most of the major effective immigration laws on the books, substitutes amnesty as a cure-all, and provides so-called solutions to non-existent problems, making the real problems even worse. This is tantamount to taking painkillers to stop internal bleeding; the U.S. may think it is better off, but it is actually far worse off because the pain medication masks a serious infirmity.
“The power of the Congress is the power of the purse…whether it be blocking any executive amnesty, whether it be blocking the EPA’s efforts to continue to wage the war on coal, and President Obama announced a new chapter in the war on coal in his so-called deal with China yesterday, whether it’s defunding Obamacare…I certainly will be encouraging members of Congress from Indiana and beyond, use the power that the Congress has, which is the power of the purse, particularly in those areas where the president is threatening to use executive action” he said.
The White House is preparing to announce a 10-point immigration plan that President Obama would implement with an executive order. Details of the proposal were shared with Fox News today and could be announced as early as next week. The plan could spare 4.5 million illegal immigrant adults from deportation.
