The online “media watchdog” contends that calling gay people “homosexual” is “a practice that’s quickly falling out of favor with major news outlets due the term’s often pejorative connotation and frequent use by opponents of LGBT equality.” Fox News, they chide, “has yet to update its language when referring to gay and lesbian people.”
The fact that they arbitrarily attacked a tweet that was two years old in a contrived ‘we need something to attack Fox News over’ aside … the whole argument is patently absurd, and serves as yet another example of censorship via manufactured outrage by the left.
homosexual gay community has a history of demanding we ban words whose history predates any reference to sexual orientation, this isn’t surprising. And since every word used to describe gay people is ultimately labeled as offensive to gay people, what are we to call them? If history is an indicator, the word ‘gay’ will also become offensive to the homosexual gay ‘whatever shall we call them’ community.
Media Matters did voluntarily bring up the word ‘colored’ in their baseless attack on Fox News. No doubt the ‘c’ word is offensive to blacks, and with good reason. However, maybe there is still an appropriate use of the word.
gay community chose the rainbow as their symbol. Seems appropriate to at least consider calling gay people colored, right? Maybe not, but I figured I’d throw it out there in case they liked the idea. Considering black Americans are rightfully offended at that word’s use towards them, they may welcome another demographic claiming it as their own. It’s a win, win!
Furthermore, if the term ‘homosexual’ is to now be offensive, I better not catch any
gay person using the terms ‘homophobe’ or ‘homophobia’ ever again. If you don’t want anyone calling you a homo, you can’t call yourself a homo.
Now to the more pressing matter of the
gay community’s offensive slander towards people who enjoy the affections of the opposite sex.
I declare the word ‘straight’ to be offensive. People with curves shouldn’t be subject to such vitriol. I also declare heterosexual to be in poor taste, just as Media Matters declares homosexual to be in poor taste. Is that absurd? No more so than Media Matters’ argument.
Here’s the deal, both homosexual and heterosexual are from the Greek homós and héteros respectively. Homo means ‘same’, hetero means ‘different’ to simplify it. Homosexuals enjoy the sexual company of the ‘same’ sex. Hence, homo-sexual or same sex. Heterosexuals enjoy the sexual company of the ‘different’ sex. Hence, hetero-sexual or different sex.
This redefining words used by many demographics must stop, plain and simple. Holding words with real meaning hostage in an attempt to create a new victim class is destroying our nation. Worse yet, it’s destroying the English language.
